Have any of you personally made wooden cornices for your windows.?

I have instructions off the web of how to make the cornices but the instructions are not clear as to how to attach them to the windows. They prefer to L-brackets but other than mention of L-brackets -- it is not clear as to how to attach.

Answer:
I have made a few. I take an L-bracket and attach it to the wall where there's a stud. There will always be studs at the edge of the windows. Use a center one, too for a wide window. Then the cornice is just laid on the other leg of the L and screwed up into the top board of the cornice (the horizontal top place). Wish I had a picture.

Of course, you need to make sure the L-brackets are level to each other. Measure up from the floor or window top, or down from the ceiling.
