How do I avoid condensation on my wooden windows in my house?
They are rotting due to moisture during the winter. The relative humidity in my house is usually in between 40 and 50 %, and the condensation on the windows happens when the temperature is less than 35.
Answer: Your relative humidity is too high. Run your exhaust fans longer to reduce the humidity or get a dehumidifier and reduce the humidity to about 30%. If you have a dirt floor in the basement, seal it with plastic to keep the humidity out of the house. At some point old single pane windows will condense with water vapor and there's very little that can be done.
