You do not have to use the conventional hinged or swinging doors nowadays in your interior design. There are many types of doors that will give your home a fresh and trendy look and some character!
There are doors that will enable to separate one room into smaller ones or simply separate your kitchen from the living room without you having to build a solid wall between the two rooms.
The common types are:
Folding doors – most commonly these doors are installed on closets – a wise choice if you would like to save some room, as they enable full access to the closet or if you place them between rooms, you will not lose any space and the doorway will remain the same size.
Bypass doors – also commonly used as closet doors. These doors hang from rollers that run along an overhead track and slide from side to side. Usually two to three doors are used that slide on one track. These doors may also be used to separate two rooms instead of a traditional swinging door.
Pocket doors – these doors are similar to bypass doors, the difference is that in case there is no room for the doors to slide, special pockets are built in the wall where the door can slide into. The installing requires more work but this installation enables better access to the closet or when used in separating rooms, will not take up any of your doorway space.
